• Last Northern Anatolian amphitheater to be unearthed

    The last amphitheater of the northern Anatolian region will be unearthed in an excavation in Turkey’s province of Tokat. The amphitheater is located just east of the historic castle of Zile, a city with a long Roman history and battle that prompted Roman Emperor Julius Caesar’s famous phrase, “veni, vidi, vici” Link

  • Kuruçeşme home to late Ottoman remains

    Archaeological excavations carried out for the restoration of Kuruçeşme facilities in Istanbul has unearthed many historical artifacts from the late Ottoman era. Among the findings are the remains of a bath and laundry as well as aqueducts. Link

  • Turkey’s first museum of play to open in Ataşehir

    İstanbul will be home to the country's first museum of play when the Düştepe Museum and Park is inaugurated this week in the Ataşehir district.The museum, which will open on Tuesday inside the 50,000-square-meter Mimar Sinan Park in Ataşehir, was designed by poet Sunay Akın, who is also the founder and owner of the İstanbul Toy Museum in the Göztepe neighborhood.   • Ottoman Health Museum opens after renovation

    Trakya University’s European Museum Award-winning Sultan Bayezid II Külliye (social complex) Health Museum, located in the northwestern province of Edirne, has reopened after a one-and-a-half year restoration process. The restoration, sponsored by Turkish drug company Abdi İbrahim, had a cost of 2 million Turkish Liras. Link

  • Ancient necropolis found during construction

    The traces of an ancient necropolis have been unearthed during the construction of a culture center in the northern province of Sinop’s Gelincik neighborhood.  The construction has been halted and excavation work has begun with the permission of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Museums.
