Public Realm and Contemporary Art: The Public Turn in Contemporary Art

The international project entitled 'Public Sphere and Contemporary Art' coordinated by santralistanbul and where ArtBOX.gr from Thessaloniki, Helsinki University of Arts and Design from Helsinki and Maison des metallos from Paris were project partners included a series of activities where the creative role of artistic applications in the transformation of public sphere in a creative manner and the democratization of public life were interrogated.  The 'Public Sphere and Contemporary Art' project organized between November 2006-2007 brought artists, authors, art historians and theorists from different countries working on and making productions on this issue together and opened the issue to discussion in different formats ranging from panels to artist presentations, public sphere speeches, document displays and books.  You may find the project details and special interviews within this project booklet that you hold in your hand.
