Festivals of Istanbul

Festivals of Istanbul

Festivals of Istanbul examines the concept of festivals and evaluates culture and arts activities with broad participation levels.  The work examines both the culture of collective entertainment within the public sphere in Istanbul and the efforts of artistic activities for being expanded to wider masses and highlights their significance in terms of urban economy.
The book edited by Serhan Ada discusses both the festivals organized by private and civil initiatives in Istanbul and the events organized by central and local administrations and presents an opportunity for the reader to question the sustainability of the festivals and to assess them from a political and economic perspective.
