Emerging Cultural Continent: Actors and Networks

Emerging Cultural Continent: Actors and Networks

Our region is experiencing a major political and social surge from the Caucasus to the Middle East.  Such an inability of settling down naturally has cultural ramifications.   The cultural actors in the region are encountering a growing instability and isolation.  The conditions are not favorable for the sustainability of independent artistic efforts most of the time.  However, we are also witnessing the occurrence of a new and creative environment in the region.  This new and creative environment discovers new forms and structures by means of transforming old forms.  The book which traces these formations is an output of the round-table meeting organized at Istanbul Bilgi University that brought independent contemporary artistic actors from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Iran, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Turkey together and constitutes a guide for the cultural institutions in the neighboring countries of Turkey.
