We are delighted to announce that Professor Milena Dragicevic-Sesic, a long-time and valuable contributor to our UNESCO Chair on Cultural Policy and Cultural Diplomacy and Cultural Policy and Management Research Center (KPY), has been awarded the prestigious 6th Mexico City Award by the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) - Culture 21.
Organised on a biennial bases, the International Award UCLG - Mexico City - Culture 21 celebrates the work of cities, local or regional governments, and leading individuals who have excelled in the promotion of innovative practices linked to the exercise of cultural rights, citizenship and sustainable development. The award has two categories: "City, Local or Regional Government" and "Individual." In the individual category, the jury has recognized the work of Milena Dragićević Šešić along with Alfons Martinell Sempere.
Milena Dragicevic-Sesic is Professor Emerita of the Faculty of Performing Arts at the University of the Arts of Belgrade, former Rector of the University of Arts in Belgrade. She is the founder of the UNESCO Chair in Cultural Policy and Management - Interculturalism and Mediation in the Balkans, with which we have had a longstanding collaboration. Among her many contributions, she has been a guest lecturer for our Cultural Management MA Programme. She also contributed as one of the co-editors of our Cultural Policy Yearbook for the 2017-18 issue titled “Cultural Policy and Populism.
