The journey of a family’s generations-long struggle with dealing with their identity. It focuses on the relationship between a father willing to claim his identity after a life-long denial and his daughter who refuses to identify with a past that is unknown to her. Skin Look is based on 40 interviews conducted with the “horhai” Roma individuals from Babadag, Constanta, the Istanbul neighborhoods of Sulukule, Kuștepe, Balat as well as Doms – Roma population from the east of Turkey, from Hatay and Gaziantep and the Dom refugees from Syria in East Turkey.
Skin Look is the product of a one-year collaboration and research project between Köşe, İstanbul and DramAcum, Bucharest called İstanbul-Bucharest by Play within Tandem Turkey.
